Irmo, SC (Dec. 18, 2024) — The South Carolina Philharmonic recognized the Town of Irmo with its prestigious Partner Award during the December 17th Town Council meeting, celebrating the town’s enthusiastic support of the Philharmonic’s inaugural “Music in My Neighborhood” program.
Robin Hallyburton, the Philharmonic’s Development and Deputy Director, presented the award and expressed heartfelt gratitude for Irmo’s collaboration. “Earlier this year, we launched an Outreach Program with the vision of providing free concerts to all community members – in hospitals, assisted living facilities, schools, libraries, and more. Irmo embraced this vision wholeheartedly, hosting 13 performances attended by over 3,000 people. We are incredibly thankful for Mayor Danielson’s leadership, the active participation of every Town Council member, and the dedication of the entire Irmo staff.”
The “Music in My Neighborhood” initiative brought a week of free ensemble performances throughout Irmo, enriching the community through music. Events were held at various local venues, including schools, community centers, and senior living facilities.
Mayor Danielson echoed Hallyburton’s sentiments, saying, “The free Philharmonic performances in Irmo were a resounding success and are still frequently discussed in our town. Residents are eager to learn when the next program will take place. This program greatly impacted this town, especially with kids and senior citizens.”
The South Carolina Philharmonic’s outreach efforts continue to build community connections through music, leaving lasting memories and strengthening relationships in towns like Irmo.
