Three male Irmo residents have filed to run for a vacated Irmo town council seat in the upcoming special election slated for June of this year. Ed Greco, George Frazier and Mike Ward are vying for a seat that if won will let them serve for the next three years on the town’s council. Each candidate paid the $35 filing fee and filled out the appropriate paperwork.
Greco, 69, currently serves on the Irmo Planning Commission, Frazier chaired the Irmo Events Committee and was struck from the ballot in 2023 when he was determined ineligible to run as a candidate in the general election for failure to update his home address. He ran again in a special election in February of 2024 and lost to Gabriel Penfield.
Ward is the current chairman of the Irmo Okra Strut Commission and a licensed insurance agent who is active with technology training for groups and individuals. He ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Irmo in 2019 and for Lexington Richland District Five school board in 2024.
Filing opened at 12 noon on March 21 and ended at 12 noon on March 31. The election will be held on Tuesday, June 3.
