Chapin Police arrested a suspect in connection with a home invasion that occurred earlier today on Glenwood Drive. Chapin Police officers arrested the suspect, Alton Alfred Radtke, at the 700 block of Chapin Road after an extended search of the area. Officers responded to a residence on Glenwood Drive just after 1:00 p.m. today in reference to a home invasion. Officers eventually determined that the suspect forced his way into the victim’s home while armed with a handgun. The suspect then physically assaulted the victim and fled the scene on foot. The victim was transported to Lexington Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A perimeter was set up in the area and Chapin Police were assisted by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, along with their K-9 services. Chapin Police negotiated with the suspect by phone, ultimately convincing him to come out of the woods where he was hiding, at which point he was taken into custody. Radtke was transported for medical treatment and will be transported to the Lexington County Detention Center upon his release. Radtke was charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
