SC Community Development Association Annual Conference, which was held in Hilton Head last week, Irmo was a finalist for the Community Achievement Award presented by the Municipal Association of SC.
Irmo came in 2nd for the development of the Rawls Creek Project which includes a skate park, two dog parks and a community garden.
Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson presented for the award, but was denied first place by the Town of Lexington and for their Old Mill Pond Trail project.
“We certainly had a great project and I’m glad we were considered,” said Irmo Bill Danielson.
“The SCCDA had their work cut out for them in choosing a winner.”
Doug Polen is Assistant Town Administrator to Irmo and attended the conference as the president of the SCCDA.
