Volunteers Pack 250 Boxes for Greg’s Groceries Program

Serve and Connect hosted a Greg’s Groceries packaging event at the Irmo Municipal Building on Thursday, June 4, bringing together law enforcement officers and community volunteers to support local families in need.

The Greg’s Groceries program honors the legacy of Officer Greg Alia, who was dedicated to strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while working toward the greater good.

Volunteers from multiple agencies participated in the effort, including the Irmo Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, South Carolina Department of Public Safety, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Working together, volunteers met their goal of filling 250 boxes with groceries. The food boxes were distributed the following day during the Irmo Community Cookout at Rawls Creek Park, providing assistance to families throughout the area.

The event highlighted the continued partnership between law enforcement agencies and community organizations working to address food insecurity while honoring Officer Alia’s commitment to service and community engagement.
