Irmo Fire Department responded to a water main break at the corner of Charing Cross Rd. and N. Royal Tower Rd. in Old Friarsgate subdivision on Monday, Aug. 30. The 4-inch pipe burst to cascade thousands of gallons of water down the street towards Broad River Rd.
Columbia Water Department cut off water to the area as they worked through the night to repair the break. Columbia Water issued a ‘boil water advisory for anyone in the 300 to 400 block of Charing Cross Rd. and any residents near the affected area who have lost water and/or water pressure are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
