Wetland Restoration

Recycling Captains from Dutch Fork Elementary School Academy of Environmental Sciences participated in a wetland restoration project at Saluda Shoals Park. Students learned about invasive species in the wetland and how they harm native habitats. Then they planted native species of trees and shrubs to help restore the wetland after the invasive species were cleared out. Students also got to go net dipping in the wetland, play interactive games with rangers at the park, and take a nature hike.
