Education Superintendent Candidate Sylvia Wright to Hold Irmo Town Hall

Sylvia Wright will bring her campaign to Irmo next month, hosting a community town hall focused on the future of education in South Carolina.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Youngs Chapel AME Church.

Billed as an open forum, the town hall will invite residents, parents, educators, and students to share their perspectives and ask questions about the state’s education system.

“At the heart of real education reform is community,” Wright said. “We cannot fix what’s broken in our schools without listening to the voices of those most impacted—our parents, our educators, and our students.”

Wright said she plans to focus on collaboration, transparency, and accountability as key pillars for improving schools across the state. She also emphasized the importance of engaging communities in all 46 counties as part of a broader effort to strengthen education outcomes.

“This is not about one person or one office having all the answers,” she said. “It’s about creating a partnership between the community and leadership to revamp our education system in a way that truly serves every child.”

The Irmo event is part of Wright’s ongoing campaign outreach, aimed at connecting directly with voters and gathering input on education policy.

The town hall is free and open to the public. For more information, visit wright2026sc.com.
