Local elections are the most important elections you will participate in, period.
Your local representation has an exponentially important impact on your day-to-day life, more so than state, federal or global politics ever will. Aside from that, if you choose to uphold your civic duty to vote, the people you choose will be extremely important. If a candidate in Irmo can win a seat with a margin of 10 votes, your vote counts! Whoever you elect will be there for four years, making decisions that will directly and measurably impact Irmo and you.
As a current representative of Irmo having regular interactions with fellow citizens and members of council, I can tell you a lot of things ‘matter’ like civil service, honesty, sincerity, approachability, dedication, respect, friendliness, humility, vision and myriad of other qualities. We are all fortunate to have some candidates who embody these great characteristics.
Since being on council and not campaigning for a second term it presents a unique opportunity to wholeheartedly support Bill Danielson for Mayor of Irmo and Erik Sickinger for Irmo Council. Working with these candidates, during our respective time in office, They have demonstrated outstanding character. They are reasonable, smart, dedicated and care about Irmo, and most of all the people who live here.
Instead of citing the copious amount of good things the candidates have accomplished, I would encourage you to contact or meet with them. Just being able to have a one-on-one conversation with a candidate who will represent you can be very compelling.
Please don’t be enticed by negativity you may have seen, and instead seek out and vote for the great qualities you desire in a representative.
Sincerely,
Kelly Busch
