Three deserving individuals received honors from the Indian Waters Council of Scouting America who sponsored the 2025 Irmo Mayor’s Awards Breakfast for Scouting onTuesday, April 8, at the Columbia Sailing Club located at 292 Shuler Road on Lake Murray. The event began with breakfast at 8AM, followed by a program where Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson acknowledged the community leaders that he felt deserved recognition.
“I’m honored to be able to make these selections for Scouting America,” said Danielson. “These people represent some of the finest Irmo has to offer.”

Hosted in partnership with the Town of Irmo, this annual celebration honors outstanding community champions who have made a lasting impact on youth and families in the region. The breakfast also supports the Friends of Scouting Campaign, which funds vital programs that teach leadership, character, and life skills to local youth.
“This event is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the community leaders and volunteers who make Scouting possible in our area,” said Scott Hales, Director of Development for Indian Waters Council. “We’re excited to continue building the future of Scouting right here in Irmo.”
Robyn Haliburton is the Deputy Director and Development Director for the SC Philharmonic overseeing all fundraising efforts from grant writing to golf tournaments. Robyn has brought music and the ‘Phil’ to Irmo’s schools, libraries, churches and parks.

Danielle McNaughton is the Communications and Special Projects Manager for the Town of Irmo and is dedicated to enhancing the town’s image. She has been building brand awareness and fosters engagement through strategic marketing and communications.

David Kafitz is Broker in Charge and Owner of EXIT Realty New Horizons. His 24 year career includes public education as a teacher, school administrator, district administrator and consultant. David holds a doctorates degree, bachelor’s degree and a Master of Arts in Education. He is currently on the board of the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce.
Eagle Scout and honor student at USC, Preston Kunkle concluded the ceremonies offering the positive impact the scouting had on his life and encouraged people to donate and support scouting.
