Irmo Town Council honors Navy SEAL veteran Guy Caskey

IRMO, S.C. — The Irmo Town Council recognized U.S. Navy veteran Guy Caskey as the town’s Hometown Hero during its Aug. 18 council meeting.

Caskey attended the meeting with his family and led the council and attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance to open the proceedings. He was also presented with the Navy flag from Veterans Park in recognition of his military service.

Caskey served 10 years in the U.S. military, from 2008 to 2018. His career included seven years of active-duty service with SEAL Team 8 from 2008 to 2015, followed by three years in the U.S. Navy Reserve with SEAL Team 18 through 2018.

He attained the rank of Special Operator First Class (SO1) and served as a special operations combat medic and sniper. During his military career, Caskey completed three deployments covering multiple areas of operation, including Europe, Africa, and Central and South America.

Following his military service, Caskey returned to the private sector. He currently serves as president of Irmo Lock Company LLC and The Modern Locksmith.

The town’s Hometown Hero recognition honors local residents whose service and contributions have made a difference to the Irmo community.
