Lake Murray’s 4th of July Celebration will light up the sky on July 2nd

Time to get in the patriotic spirit and celebrate America’s birthday on Lake Murray! Now in its 34th year, the Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board is proud to host the annual 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray on Saturday, July 2nd, presented by Lexington Medical Center.

At noon, the annual boat parade will take place and this year’s theme is “Honoring our Heroes.” Enjoy the patriotic display as locals and visitors decorate their boats in ways that will leave you amazed. The annual boat parade is viewable from the park sites at the Lake Murray Dam or by boat. It is FREE to be a part of the fun and there are cash prizes! Register online at LakeMurrayCountry.com/boatparade, at the Lake Murray Country Visitor Center (2184 N. Lake Drive, Columbia) or by phone at 803-781-5940.

“We are grateful to honor our heroes at this year’s boat parade. A hero is someone that impacts our lives every day to protect our world and make it a better place…military, police, first responders, nurses and teachers,” said Vickie Davis, Vice President of Special Events and Funding at Capital City/Lake Murray Country.

South Carolina’s largest fireworks show will take place at approximately 9:15pm from two lake locations, Spence Island and Dreher Island. The show is choreographed to a patriotic concert that will air simultaneously on the Cumulus Media (B106.7 WTCB). Both park sites at the Lake Murray Dam will be open until they reach capacity. Dreher Island State Park is 30 miles from Columbia and 12 miles off I-26 (via Chapin exit #91). Follow the visible brown State Park signage for easy navigation.

The fireworks are funded through Capital City/Lake Murray Country’s fundraising efforts at the Taste of Lake Murray each year and from the following sponsors: Lexington Medical Center, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Dominion Energy, First Community Bank, Palm Beach Tan, Stewart Landing on Lake Murray and Tidewater Boats.
