School Board Candidate Forums Dates Set

The Lexington-Richland Five Teacher Forum will be hosting two D5 School Board Candidate Forums to give the public a chance to learn more about the candidates and their positions on key issues.

“Teacher Forum is looking forward to learning more about our school board candidates and their hopes for D5 in a civil and open discourse,” said Grace Abbott, Chair of the Lexington-Richland District Five Teacher Forum. “We believe in providing opportunities for the public to become informed, and we are excited for our community to engage in the democratic process, focusing on the future of our children’s education and our faculty and staff’s careers.”

Because District Five represents parts of both Lexington and Richland counties, voters will choose candidates from their respective county only. The Teacher Forum will host two in-person events, one for each county. Candidates will only participate in the forum designated for their county. Both events will take place from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

  • Richland County: October 1 at The Center for Advanced Technical Studies, 916 Mt. Vernon Church Road, Chapin. Candidates: Jason Baynham and Mike Ward, running for one open seat.
  • Lexington County: October 8 at Irmo Middle School, 6051 Wescott Road, Columbia. Candidates: Scott Herring, Catherine Huddle, and Ken Loveless, running for two open seats.
