Thank you

I want to take this opportunity to thank the many supporters in the Irmo Chapin community for their kind words and the warm well wishes that I have received from the public. Thank the district for the beautiful ceremony at my last meeting. I want my family to know how much it meant to me for them to be there. I want everyone to know that representing the students, teachers, and community as your school board member has been a most rewarding job. I appreciate the many D-5 employees that have contributed to the great success of our school district. Friendships mean so much to me.

I want to thank our legislative delegation for their support of education. Chip Huggins, Nathan Ballentine, Ronnie Cromer and Dick Harpootlian have always listened to our needs. I appreciate the kind words from each of them at my last School Board meeting and also want to publically thank Congressman Joe Wilson for his very special video thanking me for my service. Joe Wilson has always been an advocate for education.

My prayer and my hope for this district are to continue the fight for education and for the needs of teachers and the ever-changing needs of our students. Education must be flexible and we must recognize all the many jobs a teacher has to do today in the classroom.

Thank you to the Irmo News for always supporting our students and being an advocate for their accomplishments with great coverage in their papers. It has always been a joy for parents to read Irmo News and see the highlights of their children represented. Another thank you to the New Irmo News for always being fair and balanced. The press is so essential for our Democracy.

Serving the public for 16 years as a voice for teachers, and serving as chair of the D-5 School Board has been a great honor but the honor of being a part of this wonderful community and watching us grow to one of the best school districts in the state is my greatest honor.

THANK YOU,

Jan Hammond
