The Town of Irmo has named Nicholle Burroughs as its next Deputy Town Administrator. She will begin her new role on May 18, 2026.
Burroughs brings more than 17 years of senior-level leadership experience in municipal government, public affairs, and complex operations. She most recently served as Town Administrator for the Town of Chapin, where she led day-to-day municipal operations and advised elected officials on policy, budgeting, and long-term planning.
During her tenure in Chapin, Burroughs guided several high-impact initiatives that strengthened the town’s financial position and supported managed growth. She helped secure more than $2.8 million in grant funding and played a central role in modernizing operations, including leading a town-wide software conversion that improved efficiency and transparency across departments. She also worked to expand public safety resources, increase staffing in the police department, and launched a public art initiative that resulted in the award-winning Chapin Art Trail.
Burroughs steps into the role as current Deputy Town Administrator, Doug Polen, prepares to become the new Town Administrator for the Town of Blythewood. Polen has played an important role in Irmo’s growth and day-to-day operations. Town Administrator Jim Crosland said both leaders reflect the strength of local government in the Midlands.
“Doug Polen has done an outstanding job for Irmo. He has been a steady, trusted leader for our team and our community, and we are grateful for everything he has done here,” said Crosland. “We are excited for him as he takes this next step in Blythewood. At the same time, we are very pleased to welcome Nicholle Burroughs to Irmo. She brings a strong background in municipal leadership, a track record of getting things done, and a clear commitment to public service.”
Burroughs is the founder of Rile Consulting Services, where she has advised municipalities, chambers of commerce, and nonprofit organizations across South Carolina on strategic planning, government relations, and economic development. She has also been actively involved in community leadership, serving in roles with local foundations, chambers of commerce, and civic organizations.
