District Five honors students for high test scores

Lexington-Richland School District Five is recognizing dozens of students for achieving high scores on the PSAT and SAT examinations. The highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520, and the highest score possible on the SAT is 1600.

In 2025, 48.9 percent of SC graduating seniors took the SAT. In School District Five, 68.2 percent of our senior class of 2025 took the SAT. For several years District Five has recognized students from our schools for their academic excellence on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT examinations and we continue to support students in striving to increase their performance on these examinations.

For recognition purposes the district uses the PSAT scores for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. The test was administered in October 2025 to students. These scores are the total of both Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math sections. The following students earned the top three total scores for their school: Olivia Lang, Keenan Reynolds, Sarah Wildt (Chapin High), Michael Wang, Wyatt Cochran, Anthony Fu, Annie Xu (Dutch Fork High), Alia Applegate, Olivia Box, Lily Cole, Owen Norris, Jason Osborne (Irmo High), Arlen Murataliev, Oma Anadu, and Madeline Rutherford (Spring Hill High).

The district also recognizes any student for achieving a perfect score on either of the two sections of the PSAT test. Those sections are Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. The following students scored a perfect score on the Math portion: Wyatt Cochran, Anthony Fu, Annie Xu, Grace Ma (Dutch Fork High), Noah Wanek (Irmo High), Madeline Rutherford, Ruhao Shen (Spring Hill High).

Students recognized for the SAT are those who earned the top three total scores for their school on the SAT test. The following students earned the top total scores for their school on the total of both Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math sections from their Freshman year through December 31st of their Senior year: Jacob Braden, Vivian Garcia, Dylan Reynolds, Elizabeth Yong (Chapin High), Leo Ha, Aarush Kartik, Jayden Won, Hunter Taylor (Dutch Fork High), Hayden Applegate, Faulkner Jenkins, Jayna Osborne, Alex Sumpter (Irmo High), Grayson Ashley, Anthony (AJ) Coniglio, Riviera Earhart, and Ishaan Vellanki (Spring Hill High).

One student, Hunter Taylor (Dutch Fork High), also achieved a perfect score on the math section of the SAT.

The district also recognizes students who earned the top composite score for their school on the ACT. The students represent the highest composite score for all sections, English, Reading, Math, and Science, from their Freshman year through December 31st of their Senior year. The following students earned the top composite scores for their schools: Elizabeth Yong (Chapin High), Luke Elgin (Dutch Fork High), Abagail Reaves (Irmo High), Grayson Curran (Spring Hill High).

One student, Connor Parks (Dutch Fork High), achieved a perfect STEM score on the ACT. The STEM distinction requires a student to score a perfect 36 in both Math and Science.

“Congratulations to our students who earned top scores on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT,” Chief of Academics Tina McCaskill said. “Their achievement reflects not only their dedication and perseverance, but also the strong support of their families and the commitment of our teachers and staff who challenge them to reach their highest potential each day. We are incredibly proud of these students for setting a high standard of academic excellence and demonstrating the bright future that lies ahead for them and for our district.”

School District Five would also like to give appreciation and congratulations to the following Academic Assessment Coaches in the district: Randy Johnson and Tess Pratt (Chapin High), Karla Bell and Erin Rivers (Dutch Fork High), Stephanie Dukes and Willie Frierson, Jr. (Irmo High), Sandi Cole and Kellie Masone (Spring Hill High).
