Pamela Bynoe-Reed selected for 2021 Women in Business Award

The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) is proud to announce that Pamela Bynoe-Reed, the organization’s Director of Marketing & Community Affairs/PIO has been selected by Integrated Media Publishing as one of the 2021 SC Women in Business: Women to Watch.

The prestigious award honors selected businesswomen across South Carolina based on career achievements, contributions to their company, and community involvement. The recipients will be featured in the July issues of Columbia Business Monthly, Greenville Business Magazine and Charleston Business Magazine.

“I am deeply humbled to be distinguished in the company of this group of outstanding female business leaders and award recipients,” said Bynoe-Reed. “It is a blessing to do the work that I enjoy while making a difference people’s lives with the support of my COMET team and Board of Directors. I work with a phenomenal group of people who allow me to creatively promote our progressive mobility services to Midlands residents every day. For this I am truly thankful.”

Bynoe-Reed was responsible for leading the public and crisis communication efforts for the organization during the 2020 pandemic which mitigated ridership losses experienced by many other agencies. Additionally, she was the architect for the “Don’t Miss Your Shot” campaign to provide multi-modal public transportation to COVID-19 vaccine appointments and led the nationally acclaimed, award-winning “Saving Sarah’s Seat” campaign which honored civil rights pioneer, Sarah Mae Flemming, and her contribution to desegregating public transit. She also directed the redesign and implementation of The COMET Leadership Academy; a program established to recruit and develop ambassadors for public transportation in the Midlands. She is an accomplished public speaker who is frequently invited to speak to local, national, and global audiences on the topics of communications, business development and innovative partnerships in public transportation.

Selections are based on staff research and community nominations. The Women to Watch category recognizes the achievement of businesswomen in a leadership role in their respective industry for fewer than five years who have made significant contributions in such a short amount of time.

“We are so proud of Pamela being recognized for this award,” said LeRoy DesChamps, Interim Executive Director of The COMET. “She has demonstrated her value to our team with her positive attitude, high-quality work, and dedication to public transportation. On behalf of the staff and The Board of Directors, we congratulate her.”

Thirty-five women from across the state representing a variety of fields will be officially honored at a luncheon in Greenville, SC on Thursday, August 26.
