Three dedicated Midlands residents have been recognized as 2025 Dominion Energy Volunteers of the Year for their exceptional commitment to service and community engagement. Each honoree has made a significant impact through volunteer work, dedicating time, talent, and passion to causes close to their hearts.
In recognition of their contributions, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation will donate $2,500 to a local nonprofit of each honoree’s choosing.
The South Carolina honorees are:
-
Nick Huffstetler, a dam safety technician at Lake Murray and nine-year Dominion Energy employee, has volunteered for 20 years with Little Mountain Fire and Rescue in Newberry County. As a captain, he oversees emergency response efforts, training programs, and equipment upgrades.
“Volunteering isn’t just about showing up—it’s about being there when your community needs you most,” said Huffstetler.
-
Joshua Hugley, a business analyst and former U.S. Army servicemember, is a reserve deputy with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Since joining Dominion Energy three years ago, he has remained committed to public safety and community service.
“The best part of doing this volunteer work is being able to help people and provide them with hope,” Hugley said. “Sometimes I meet people on the worst day of their life, and all I want to do is contribute to their overall safety and the safety of the community.”
-
Pheona Kelly, a human resources management consultant with 28 years at Dominion Energy, has spent over two decades supporting South Carolina’s Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. She volunteers with organizations like Beginnings SC and the South Carolina Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
“Dominion Energy has been incredibly supportive of my passion and the organizations that I care about,” Kelly said. “It says so much about how the company sees volunteerism and how it encourages supporting the community.”
Keller Kissam, President of Dominion Energy South Carolina, praised the honorees:
“Our local family of employees cares about our customers and the communities we serve. Pheona, Nick, and Joshua are great examples of our employee volunteers who selflessly contribute to our neighbors and dedicate themselves to making a difference in people’s lives. I’m honored to work alongside them every day.”
The Dominion Energy Volunteer of the Year program, also known as the Benjamin J. Lambert III Volunteer of the Year Award, recognizes employees and retirees in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina who go above and beyond in serving their communities. The South Carolina honorees were three of six selected company-wide.
In 2024, Dominion Energy employees collectively contributed 110,000 volunteer hours, supporting a broad range of community initiatives. The company continues to foster a culture of service through its matching gifts and volunteer rewards programs.
